I've been tweaking my templates  (BS4 with Smarty) and noticed that in the default folder their is an index.html file and and index.tpl file.  The editor brings up the .tpl file so I was wondering what the .html file is used for.  If I want to use an external editor to change these files is it okay just to change the .TPL file and FTP it back to the directory?

.tpl files are the templates based on smarty, while the .html are the normal html templates. Based on what template type you select when instaleld, one of the files will be used.

You can rename tlp to .html and edit then rename back. Or can set your html editor to open .tpl to, using file association. I open it with Frontpage

Even easier is just change tpl to .pl then edit then just add the "t"
back when done ... keeps me from messing up Smiley

I've noticed the templates that come with BS4 all have .tpl counterparts.

Yet the template pack I bought from the main site has no .tpl files and when I went to select them in my blog, it resulted in nothing but a white completely blank page being displayed...

Is there something I've missed as there's no mention of the differences in the documentation (unless I missed the mention as well...Huh).

Appreciate your help with this.

Thanks,
Andrew

I learned the hard way that the blank page comes from the settings set to smarty templates instead of classic. The original blogsolution used all html template files.
