I am getting the following errors with rssMagician when I am using multifeeds:

Invalid at the top level of the document. Error processing resource 'http://mydomain.com/rssm/rss.php?source=multifeed&feeds...

Array
^

and when I tried to create single feeds, the first time I access the feed I get this following error.  Usually this error will clear up if I hit refresh.

A semi colon character was expected. Error processing resource 'http://mydomain.com/rssm/rss.php?source=rss&feed=http%3A%2F%...

Any Ideas?

Thanks,
Brian.

Send me an email with the location of your rssm install, and the list of feeds that you try to use in multifeed. I will check it out and also try on our test installs. There may some host issues as well as some small errors in using it.

I got this error when trying to combine feeds:
Sad XML Parsing Error: syntax error:(

This is where my RSSM is installed:

http://rssmagician.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com/

Please try to combine these 2 feeds:
http://rss.news.yahoo.com/rss/topstories
http://www.alternativesourceradio.com/altscrspodrss.xml

And you'll see that error.

But when I tried to run the combination of these two same feeds on your demo site:
http://rssmagician.com/demoinstall/

It works without any error.

Would you please help me out?

Thanks!

I am waiting for a response from Omar.

I just noticed the demoinstall works fine for me as well.   Is there an updated version somewhere?

Brian.

Hi guys. I just replied to brian on email. Here it is again.

Sorry for the delay.

Seems a small bug shown up since our last update. It should been fixed now.

Please download the script again from same place, www.rssmagician.com/download/ and upload all files again. Let me know if still any problems (maybe send me ftp to take alook at the files locally)

Regards
Omar

The new download/install did not fix the problem. Sad

Error is slightly different:

XML Parsing Error: no element found
blah blah blah ....
Line Number 1, Column 1:

I have emailed you FTP info, perhaps you can take a look at it.

By the way, what's the cause of this problem?

Thanks!

I see that you commented out line 72: print_r($this->feed); of magpie_parser.php. So the error changed from "syntax error" to "no element found".

I tried it on two web servers, both generated the same error when trying to combine multiple feeds.Sad

Hi Omar,

RSS Magician is not working when option "Combine content from multiple RSS feeds (put feed urls oner per line)" is used. Sad  Sad  Sad  Your demoinstall works fine though.

I tried new download/install again on two different web servers, both gave out the error as described above.

I have emailed you my FTP login credentials. I'm still waiting for your reply.

Thanks!

My web host tech support told me that XML generated by RSS Magician contains too many invalid symbols, that's why the some servers could not parse XML generated by RSS Magician script.

I was told that the error as described in my previous posts are not caused by web servers incorrect settings, but by script itself.

It looks like RSS Magician needs some work in order to work correctly.

Hi Halfhuman

Did you get an answer to your problem?

I have just bought RSS mag and have exactly the same error, not the best start!

Have sent pm to Omar and an email to support but thought you might have an answer?

Hi There,

Recently installed RSSMagician as per the instructions on my webserver and whatever I do, whenever I go to the url I set it up at, it returns nothing but a big blank page (white - no text or errors at all).

I've set the CHMOD to 777 on the activites folder and have navigated to the correct place, and nada.

Can someone please tell me how to get this thing working as I'm losing hair over this one!

Thanks guys,
Andrew

I solved this - it is caused with PHP5. I had the same problem.
I used it on a PHP4 server and the error was solved.

The errors you describe are errors made by the browser (Firefox and IE7), when they expect an RSS file but infact there is nothing there (nothing whatsoever - a blank page no XML output.

When used with PHP 5, and when using the combine function, RSS Magician outputs no XML, but in PHP4 is works fine.

Can any code fix for PHP5 be posted here? There must be a bit of poor or depreciated code in the part of the script that handles combining.

Can we test PHP Magician with PHP5?
