Maybe I'm a little dense, but what is the "Recurse into subcategories" checkbox on the homepage setup supposed to do?  I tried it both check and unchecked and I can't tell what is different.

Thanks.

I will try to explain you how it works with an example. Suppose to have a category with 3 subcategories:

Books
   Marketing Books
   Investing Books
   Fiction Books

You can have rules for each subcategory, but NO rules for Books itself. In this case when you got to Books, you see a mix of products from all subcategories.

BUT, if you want to show something else on Books category, you can have separate rules for the category itself.

Now, on the Homepage settings you can tell SS what products to display on index page. If you select "Recurse into subcategories" and select Books category as the one to have products on the index, SS will take products from all subcategories too. Otherwise, will be only products grabbed by Books rule directly only. However, if there are no specific rules for Books, SS will use subcategories too by default, otherwise would nt had what to list.

Hope that makes sense
