I know this is a basic question, but I'm not sure which template to use.  Can anyone tell me how the best way to add adsense code to the existing templates?

Open up the template in the HTML mode in something like Frontpage or another editor.

Get your html code from your google adsense account page for whatever kind of adsense ads you want to display.

Insert that code on the template wherever you want it to appear.
