Just throwing in my opinions. I have spent 4 months seriously studying the scripts, the Smarty coding, the ways to implement more traditional Web techniques (HTML, scripts, etc) and coming up with advanced, step by step, commented scripts. I guess it's the educator in me; can't help it
But in the end, after the SS site is built, I think that then it comes back to more traditional things that are already working "out there." Jinger's teleconference call is a HUGE resource.
My sites, which I've not had time to promote at all, are not drawing much traffic. Over the years, my own meta coding and promotional means have landed almost all of my older sites in a pretty good Google listing. So, I think the AGE of your domain will have something to do with your traffic.
And, because of what I've just said, I am fairly certain that just because this is a SS site, that does not mean it has any kind of automatic reason to be high ranked or get great traffic. Again, it comes down to using the things that are already working.
And I also think that revamping of the script is a given. I think that eventually the engines will mark these as being 'footprinted' ... they will recognize the script's footprints and I think that will affect the site's rankings. I am going to great links to make those possible footprints, "invisible."
So far, SS stores are eating bandwidth and disk space. Not much traffic except HUGE traffic from the bots.
