Hi, I am new to SS, just wondering if using a shared-business hosting plan from hostgator will not cause any problem with bandwidth and disk space (since it is has the automated update function will it eat up my disk space or bandwidth?). Do we need a dedicated server?

You do not need a dedicated server, a shared host works fine too, just don't try to make a store with 100.000s products.

Hi Omar,

What is the suggested amount of products? Below 100,000?

There is no recommended amount of products, you can add as many as you like, but on some shared hosts big sites may work a bit slwoer. It depends on each host..

You can try shared hosting first and if that is fast enough for you, fine. If, on the other hand, you find that your site is running slowly, then, maybe you will want to consider spending the extra bucks monthly for a dedicated server. You can transfer your site to a dedicated server at a later date, although this can be a bit of a pain.
