Who said that will never ever be opened again? At the initial launch there was only 1000 copies sold and then closed for 5 months. First buyers had all that time to exclusively use it if that was a concern. But our business is to sell software, development, support, all that cost money. So unless you would like to pay a montlhy price for SS (like that similar service you posted about a few days ago), then we need to sell what we produced.

Well come on you gave the impression only 1000 would be sold ...
The more sold the less powerful the tool becomes...

Well.. that is what you understood.. And SS is not some blackhat new technique (likd blog and ping was couple years ago) that gets deprecated because too many people use it and SE catch it. Is like you would say WordPress will get useless because too many people use it.

I am sorry but i agree with the fact that if you make a statement that says you will sell XXX number of copies and then stop then you should do just that.
If you intend to sell XXXX number of copies every XXX months then thats what you put in your statement.
Store Stacker cannot be compared to WP, the more SS copies you sell the bigger the footprint gets, with WP, it is allot easier to customise templates, ad in plugins, change headers and manipilate the template compare to SS.
Anyway, what ever you decide to do it is a great product and i love it, just wish i did not have to share it with everybody else on the planet

Well.. if you can pay us some $1M we will revoke all licenses from other users, pay their money back and let you be the only user, with personal lifetime support. But i guess that is not possible so unless you want us to go out of business and nobody left to help you when you have issues, we need to sell stuff and keep business alive.
As about footprints, can you tell me one SS footprint? We do not even use that "Powered by" and forbid removal by TOS like BANS do/did.
I also disagree WP templates are easier to, use, maybe it looks like because you are more used with it, or because there are lot of sites offer free or paid wp templates. Untill now i was not able to create my own WP template, but i made SS ones and i like to believe that i have some tech skills.. But as always, is a matter of personal experience.
