Make sure you didn't made any typo when created database or when filled CS form. Also make sure your mysql host it is "localhost" and not using another name and that you add ALL privileges for the mysql username over the database.

I used copy/paste method to fill in all forms. And tables in database were created by install.php

I get the exact same error.

In fact, the "Error: 0: Connection failed to the host ." message is dislayed already in step 2 of the installation.

The installation is able to finish anyway, but then when you try to login nothing happens and "Error: 0: Connection failed to the host localhost.Error: 0: Connection failed to the host localhost." is displayed at the top of the screen.

I have followed the installation instructions, uploaded everything in binary etc.

Maybe it's a server compatibility issue?

Are you sure you have added all privileges for the username over the mysql database? Just creating the user is not enough.

User has all privileges. As i sad before, ALL TABLES WERE CREATED by install.php. I can see it via phpMyAdmin. Maybe beta version working not correct?

I'm new to CS and am getting the same problem.

I'm running CS2 on Windows XP + WAMP + Zend Optimizer.

On step 2 of the installation I get this error at the top of the screen.
"Error: 0: Connection failed to the host ."

This comes up just after using 'beta' in step 1.  After filling in step 2 details and continuing on, the next step seems to work fine.  "Ok, let's go. Where is my magic wand..." comes up and no errors appear on the page.

When I go to the login page I get these errors at the top of the page.
"Error: 0: Connection failed to the host .Error: 0: Connection failed to the host ."

When I try to login nothing happens.  I've looked into the database I specified in step 2 of the installation and a whole bunch of tables have been created, which leads me to believe that it isn't a database problem per se.  There also seems to be no problems with privileges as CS is given the root login.

Is there any solution for this?  I would like to try CS2 before the free testing period runs out...

Cheers,
  Gontro Smiley

Gontro and I seem to have encountered the same problem/bug or wathever this is...

And I second all of his opinions - CS2 sure sounds great, but if I can't even get it to work...

Unfortunately it may be a little too late. The trial witll stop work Monday and you won't have time to properly test it.

We will do a separate trial for all of you that downloaded too late and had problems instaling it, so you never had the chance to test it.

Ok, let's go. Where is my magic wand...

Trying to communicate to your MySQL server and see how is he going here:
He kindly responded

Creating system directories...

After that, i can't login.

Error: 0: Connection failed to the host localhost.Error: 0: Connection failed to the host localhost.

on top of screen.

I can buy CS2 without testing, but i'm not sure wether i'll be able to use it or not.
