Hey guys..

You may noticed that some of you have some trooubles in installing TBS, and except from browser bugs in firefox, many issues are related to server configuration.

We have tryed the past few days to solve this issues form changing our code, as much as we could, but it is impossible to solve all.

Some hostings have so strange settings, that is impossible for us to fix them in any way.

So i have opened this thread.

Please feel free to post here about your hosting experince.
What works good, what works but with some adjustments and what is not working.

Let's hope this thread will hope the actual users, and maybe other people that are not using yet TBS and just make their research

Thanks
Omar

Omar,

I discovered that every problem I've email or posted about was related to my firewall.
I disabled the firewall and installed TBS with no issues. The firewall also
causes the script to go to the password after every link click. So I have to
disable when I want to manage/create the blogs.

plugandspace.net

S**ks really bad!

1.can not support wildcard on shared IP, must purchase ded IP
2.their ded IP prices are too high! $5/mo for 1, or $15/mo for 5.
3.ugliest version of cpanel I ever seen!
4.tbs can not aggregate rssfeeds on their server!
5.verrrrrrrrrrrrrry slow tech support.

Well, I stand behind my host, slhost. I've got a vps there. They are absolutely great at support.

They helped me through the first setup of my wildcard subdomains, which was a bit tricky. Now I can do it easily myself. They still have a 50% off deal going if you pay for your first year. They also helped me through my vps setup, which can be a little tricky. They have their own support forum, also.

I've used several hosts, and still use about six of them, for various purposes. So far, they are the best I've seen.

I signed up dreamhost but the control panel is so unique as compared to standard Cpanel. I can't find crontab, awstat and their support replied I need to login in SSH and setup cron job, probably in command line. I am lost after using Cpanel for more than a year. Thinking of switching to RoutHost share hosting and test again. Anyone using RoutHost for BS, $2.99/month, 750MB, 20GB Bandwidth?  Any problem?

One of my other hosts is iPowerweb. I like them for what I use them for, but they also have a very unusual control panel. I couldn't get cron's to work, and had some other issues.

Dave,

I had early problems with cron's but I realized that the Exact path needed for each cron is shown right there in the BS (I think it's the info link)  That solved my problem because I was only showing part of the path (as shown in the text file)

Thanks. But unfortunately I was trying to run RSS To Blog on iPowerweb, and it wouldn't find the posting url. Even though I could copy/paste it right out of the cron and it would work. So I know I had it right. I just ended up doing something else with the site, and didn't bother putting any more time into it.

Hello Fellow BS'ers,

I talked to omar about hosting and he says it is ok to post. I created an install video for everyone to use. Omar himself will test out the service asap. (busy guy)

I set up a special server for BS. Dell Poweredge 1850, 800 mhz FSB Dual 3.4 ghz ZEON, 375 gig scsi, with 6 gigs of ram and 8 gigs of swap (can go to 12 gigs of RAM)

  * First I cost a bit more, but sometimes you get what you pay for.

  * I offer 10 and 15 installs per package.

  * I give a dedicated Class C IP for each domain for your use alone. This is the key to mass blogging and linking.

  * Software is preloaded on every domain set up

  *  The DNS wildcard is configured for every domain.

   * The ONLY thing you do is set up your db and go to the manage dir.

http://www.webhostforseo.com/hosting.php?spt=5
15% Discount Code BS15 until May 30th.

 Video here says it all.

Talk about spiders!

For those of that you want to know how to do DNS wildcard this is how below.

in DNS Zone File at bottom take out all CNAME's and add this one.

  * IN CNAME domain.com.

In httpd.conf (apache) edit ServerAlias *.domain.com.

 I hope this helps,

-Ts

PS The other guy is right, dont slam any server with thousands of blogs in one  day. It will just eventaully get your site delisted, especailly if tis new.

Hi webhostforseo,

Signed up for your hosting on wednesday, first domain up and running on thursday. No problems at all.

I was going down the vps route with another hosting provider, and in the long run, I'm sure vps is worth the effort, but I wanted something that would get me up and running quickly.

So far, very happy with your service.

I have questions

TS - Correct me if I am wrong in my understanding.  Your 10 install hosting means that I would be able to have 10 domains with 10 installs of Blog Solutions?

TS / Tony - How many blogs would you suggest be created on each domain and would you suggest using the sub-domain or folder blog methods.

TS - What would be the advantage of your service over something like an slhost vps?  On the surface, it looks like they offer twice the space and bandwidth, at half the price, together with service that can't be beat. Am I missing something?

I've got over a dozen BS domains on there now (thousands of blogs), plus thousands of other sites, blogs, and misc stuff. And I'm at the level 1, which is something like $270 per year. I've never had issues with over-taxing the server.

I'm not trying to dis your service, merely trying to understand your offer better.
